Invest In a Professional Photographer

Invest In a Professional Photographer

Every girl dreams of a magical wedding. The day she gets besotted, she lets her imagination take her to the land of fairies and princesses, surrounded by a thousand crystal chandeliers, flowers and love all around. She envisages herself and her handsome groom, covered in fairy dust, standing below intricately knit arbors; saying the two words ‘I do’; which will bind them infinitely, irrevocably, forever.

These moments are meant to be captured just like they were imagined and only a good photographer can create memories that can be reminisced way past their time. Therefore investing in a good photographer would be the wisest decision you will ever make on your wedding.

Five Reasons why one should invest in a professional photographer

  1. Wedding expenses have skyrocketed in the past few years and in a bid to follow the hottest trends, couples spend a chunk of their budget on booking lavish venues, ridiculously extravagant cuisines and day inspirations. It’s important to note that DIY tin can lanterns and paper flower arrangements that might seem terrific on Pinterest and Youtube, will probably look like junk if they are not captured on reel by a highly creative photographer. Also, copying every cool new trend blindly is not the wisest thing to do as current trends will eventually fade with time only to be replaced by something even better.
  2. A few years down, your wedding album should look gorgeous and elegant, not a testimonial to how much budget you dished out at the decorations that day. Without spending the budget on random extras, keep your focus on creating something timeless, simple and classic which would translate nicely onto a wedding album even when viewed after 30 years.
  3. Treasured moments, if not captured on time, are gone forever. In a bid to save their budget, instead of hiring a professional photographer, couples tend to rope in a friend or relative who is good with a DSLR with a popular Instagram following to do the photographer’s They don’t realize that there is so much more than a click of a button that goes into a single shot. Those who think,“why should I spend thousands of dollars on something that lasts only a single day?” should know that once the day ends, wedding photos are the only way they can re-live the moments from the most important day of their life.
  4. An experienced photographer can make your wedding look even better than it actually was. They know how to add those meaningful touches and details to your photos and capture all those sweet emotional moments that can only be felt when two people come together to form a bond of love. At the same time, a failed photographer can make a million dollar wedding look like total crap as they wouldn’t know when to take the best shots.
  5. A good photographer can anticipate things before they happen and have the ability to highlight beautiful aspects of your day that even you might not be aware of. They possess the expertise to produce well-composed shots and bring out the best in your wedding using excellent lighting techniques.

The best part of investing in a good photographer is that when you open your wedding album, it reads like a storybook, revealing the events of your wedding in a dream like manner where emotions are uncovered, one stunning shot at a time, till its conclusion.

Wedding Outfits

Wedding Outfits

The wedding season is just around the corner and if you are in a fix about what to wear to the nuptials, here is a detailed guide on what to wear at each wedding theme out there.

 Garden Weddings

Garden weddings are extremely romantic and traditional. A backdrop of lush gardens and fountains calls for a very floral, feminine dress theme.

The blush pink in this dress is perfect for a garden wedding, combined with patterned block heels and a subtly embellished clutch with similar detailing as the floral dress.

Pastel dresses also look fabulous in a garden setting. Pick a delicate shade of pink or delve in mint green, violet or pale blue tones in the shape of cascade crepe sheath dresses. Accessorize with a patterned clutch as arm candy and sophisticated heels to ground your outfit.

A floral maxi dress or one with a classic print or solid colour is another good option for a garden wedding. Accessorize your maxi with silver jewellery and metallic heels.

Beach Wedding

When picking an outfit for a beach wedding, I will advise you to go with something that is colourful and flowy with a simplistic look. Keep your make up light and natural. For footwear, let go of the heels and pick easy, breezy tastefully embellished sandals. You can also wear heels and put on slippers when you go in the sand.

This flowing, floor length kaftan in an amalgamation of all shades of blue with little pops of orange and lilac and is really cool for a beach setting. Pair it with a shoulder clutch with funky details and go for blue tote striking sandals.

Other options can be:

  • Crop Top and Pants

This is the go-to outfit for a casual beach wedding and keeps you in groove with the beach theme. Choose interesting prints for your pants and pair them with a muted top with light embellishments on the sleeves or neckline.

  • A blue maxi dress

A Blue Maxi Dress which will blend in well with the background. Use natural flowers for hair accessory.

  • A Cocktail dress
  • A sparkly Cocktail Dress will flatter your curves best at formal weddings if you are in good shape.
  • A Pleated dress with strappy sandals
  • A Pastel Printed Dress, especially for bridesmaids
  • Bohemian floral dress

Something you will wear to prom as a teenager, it is ideal for beach weddings and make you stand out in a crowd of regular gowns.

  • Cascading Gown

A belt cinched at the waist over a cascading gown will flatter any body type and is great for women in their 40s and 50s.

  • A Crochet Dress
  • Delicate Lace Top with a swingy Skirt
  • Tunics
  • A Chiffon dress

Foreign Wedding Inspired By Greece

The tricky part of a destination wedding is that you couldn’t be sure what the weather will be like on that destination. In a UK wedding you know how hot a British summer day can be or how chilly it is in winters, but a foreign wedding asks for an extra effort in terms of selecting a dress. It could be a humid Thai wedding, or located on the breezy beaches of the Caribbean. Africa and Ireland are also common destination options. For a warm destination wedding, you can nicely carry off lace, chiffon, silk and organza dresses. It is also easy to carry mixed or patchwork prints with effortless charm.

This navy blue embroidered knee-length dress is a simple yet classic take on a destination wedding outfit. We will let the shoes add the bling factor in the form of silver strappy flats. Heels are not recommended if the location doesn’t have a patio and has a rocky or mountainous landscape. A white woven shoulder bag with tussles and minimalistic earrings and handcuff will beautifully finish off your foreign look.

You can wear a cocktail dress to the church, preferably grey, because this colour embodies a lot of grace and sophistication. Make sure it is not revealing, high-slitted or off-shouldered. You can go wild with your dress choices at the after-party but if you want to rock the same cocktail dress at both occasions, throw a blazer over the cocktail dress at the church. Finish off the look with elegant high heeled pumps and carry a fancy clutch.

Carry the ethereal look by adorning a floral print silk chiffon gown with a printed box clutch and Sophia Webster embellished patent leather sandals.

You can also go for a bold, theme-inspired outfit if the location is exotic for example at Hawaii beaches or at rainforests of Costa Rica. Just make sure your dress maintains its elegance and doesn’t look like a costume. You can’t go wrong if you follow these below mentioned styles:

  • A Dolce & Gabbana Majolica-print frilled hem dress accessorized with a Mark Cross “Grace” mini enamel and gold plated box bag and “Keane” sandals
  • Anna October ruffle dress and Bally leather sandals and a Michael Kors leather-trimmed raffia bag.

Country Wedding

A countryside wedding will be all about blossoming floral prints in bright hues and delicate lace details. Go for a traditional look with a charming rural touch to it.

The best option to create countryside, lightweight aura is by picking a black dress from your collection with standout prints and spaghetti straps as shown below. Wear Studded closed pumps and accessorize with a bird shaped clutch and a statement necklace.

Other styles include:

  • Tomas Maier washed linen wrap dress and Tibi silk anorak with Tabitha Simmons embroidered suede pumps
  • Blue rose mesh midi dress with blue floral print sandal as suggested at the Debenhams website
  • a lace dress from the website self-portrait-studio.com, Tory Burch suede sandals and a Next beaded clutch

Vineyard Wedding

Vineyard weddings are the prettiest and most romantic. Not all of us have attended a vineyard wedding as it is a newer trend so you might be at a loss for what to wear to a wedding at the wineries. Choose a classy dress with some romantic vibes to keep with the spirit of a vineyard. Here are a few tips on how you can achieve the perfect look at this fancy occasion.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with this romantic red silk maxi look. Paired with a vintage styled clutch, drop earrings and red stilettos, you can absolutely slay in this latest wedding look at night. Carry a wrap for your shoulders for a chilly evening.

Another alternative is a pretty floral deep plum chiffon dress. It has a very feminine and sophisticated vibe to it and can be worn even by a 70-year-old due to its flattering silhouette and versatility.

Also, A wine red lace cocktail dress is lovely for late afternoon weddings in the months from September to November.

City Weddings

There is a lot you can experiment with at a city wedding depending on what kind of event it is; formal, casual or black tie. Play with modern cuts and shapes and graphic prints to create a contemporary look.

This look is ravishing for a July or monsoon wedding with a silk navy blouse tucked in dark navy blue pants. The moon star embellished clutch and silver toed navy blue stilettos will be a vision in the night scape of a city wedding. Always pick a statement necklace to compliment your urban style wardrobe.

For afternoons, a peach-collared sleek jacquard dress with glimmer metallic detailing and a fitted bodice and full skirt is truly appropriate. Also, It is the perfect choice for the mother-of-the bride/groom because of its glowy vibe. Diamond jewellery will compliment it so well and enhance the delicacy of this dress.

For night nuptials, wear a French Connection linen jacket and matching trousers with a silk top.

A vibrant green colored dress with eyelet details and tank styling will give a fun, preppy feel. It can also be worn to a rehearsal dinner or bridal showers.  You can prep it up with oversized costume pearls and navy clutch.

Black tie:

The safest and most sophisticated option is to wear a full length gown. The second option that inspired us consists of a relaxed-fit suit made of a sequined blazer and cropped pants with metallic leather sandals and onyx pendant necklace.

Styling Tips For A Job Interview

Styling Tips For A Job Interview
One of the most daunting tasks ahead of a job interview is choosing a business style outfit which will make a long-lasting impression at your new job. It is completely normal to be nervous before an interview and you must have practiced your introductory lines in front of the mirror a million times, but do not let all that anxiety impair your dressing sensibilities. It is imperative that you invest in your appearance as much as your resume in order to nail the interview. There are four things that you should put your focus on before selecting your wardrobe:

  1. Are you comfortable in that outfit?
  2. Does it give you confidence?
  3. Does it look professional?
  4. Does it reflect your own personal style?
  5. What kind of style statement are you aiming for?

Fashion is in a constant state of flux but it is very important that you maintain your own personal style. You must know the do’s and don’ts of business style attire and at the same time be on top of the fashion radar.

Here we will lead you through a list of styling tips that will help you breeze through the job interview and make sure your look becomes your career asset and not a liability:

The Sophisticated Look:

Sophisticated office wear can really keep you on the safe side especially when it is your job interview. Experiment with different men inspired looks. A dark-colored suit or a blazer with a statement piece of jeweler will provide you full marks in the style department. Take your inspiration from the current fashion weeks and go for pantsuits and jumpsuits. A skirted power suit paired with a light colored cotton shirt can be styled with bright colored shoes and matching handbag.  A suit commands respect and gives off all those serious vibes. Accessorize it with a necklace or earrings. As long as you have styled your look and made it office-appropriate, you can even wear sport luxe sweatshirts with classy pencil skirts. Pair your look with a hat and super sexy heels and you are good to go.

Simplistic Feminine Look:

If you love wearing dresses and skirts, let your inner stylist out and think up good ways you can convert your dresses into something with a professional punch.  Go for the elegant look by wearing a wrap blouse with tweed or flowy skirts. Finish off your look with a skinny waist belt. A muted turquoise or deep red dress will also make you stand out in a bunch of potential candidates outside your new office. Don’t accessorize much and make sure the dress has appropriate neckline and hemline. Round off your look with a cross-body bag and a pair of black heels or ballet flats. Dresses can also be paired with smart blazers and make you look casual smart.

Business Casual Look:

Invest in a good pair of quality dress pants and skinny jeans which can then be worn with a sweater, a men-shirt or a structured top. You can also go for chic silk chiffon button downs. You don’t have to be boring. Select a top with interesting details and pair them with peep-toe fashion-forward, moderate heels. Side parted hair with a side ponytail can complete your look. Just combine three simple, yet extremely versatile pieces to form a business style outfit and carry a tote or briefcase as arm candy.

Glamorous Look:

If you can carry sky-high heels and bright lips perfectly, you are welcome to the glamour department. Here we would advise you to glam up your look with statement golden necklaces, oversized bags, silk tops and pencil skirts in rich fabric. Just embrace every bling that comes your way with style and don’t be afraid to flaunt those expensive pieces in your wardrobe. The key here is to not go overboard or look non-serious. Let the professional in you peek through all that glam in nice proportions with a blazer, coat or thin belt over your dress.

Careless Chic Look:

If you are street-style smart, you can pull off anything with sophistication with minimum detail. Play with shapes and clash different style items to create interesting silhouettes with high heels as footwear. You can experiment with culottes, flared pants, blazers over T-shirts, whatever defines your street-style look best.

Must Haves in a Casual Style in the New Season

Must Haves in a Casual Style in the New Season

Boyfriend Jeans

Boyfriend jeans are a must have casual style wardrobe item every winter and they are great for a relaxed fall look! They are a versatile pair and can be coupled with just about anything from long sleeve shirts to bomber jackets to a graphic tee and cardigans. Keep your ankle boots as footwear in the day and for an evening outing, you can wear these boyfriend jeans with a silky blouse, black high heels and a fur vest. Finish off you look with a statement scarf and you can rock your evening like anything!

Capes are your best friends in winters as they give you cover out in the cold and are also suitable for every body type. They look super sexy when worn over pencil skirts, skinny jeans or leggings. So this fall, throw that cape over a nice sweater and don’t forget those high-heels to nail the classy girl look!

Belts, belts and belts! It is the most important accessory this fall to add shape to any outfit. A dress cinched at the waist with a nice faux leather belt will give you a really flattering silhouette. You can put your belt on with your skinny jeans or khakis and the other option is to cinch it over a long sweater dress or cardigan.

Trench Coats

This fall you MUST add trench coats to your go-to outfits list. A trench coat not only saves you from the downpour, it also adds you to the list of all those fashion forward ladies who are on top of their style-o-meter! Trench coats are chic, functional, and finish up your look in a classic twist whether you are wearing them over a dress or jacket and leggings.

Statement Necklace
Other than investing in a good leather belt, you must own one statement necklace which will up the ante for your casual style clothing. They are eye-catching and add the glamour quotient to your overall look even when worn with a simple T and jeans.

Structured and studded bags can really help tie your look together in winnters.

Long Boots

Long boots or over-the-knee boots look fabulous when worn over leggings and skinnies. They can also compliment your oversized knitted sweaters nicely.

Bomber and Biker Jackets
Oversized leather jackets are super flattering on any body type. They cutoff nicely below your waste and can be paired with all kinds of casual wear. Jackets look amazing when pulled over form-fitted tops or dresses.

Canvas sneakers

Sneakers are a must for your casual style footwear. They are insanely flattering on your legs and look amazing with cut-off jean shorts, cuffed corduroy pants or with dresses and skirts.

Silky Blouses

Silky blouses are one other versatile piece of clothing that can be paired with just about anything from pencil skirts to skinny jeans to corduroys. Just throw a cardigan on top and finish off your look with a statement necklace. You can accessorize with a scarf and also if the blouse is oversized, it can be cinched at the waist with a belt if you want to add some form to your attire.

Patterned Knit Sweaters and Long Sleeves Striped Shirts

Pair your knitwear and striped shirts with denims, harem pants, boyfriend jeans, flared pants and trousers and you are good to go.

Hats are a must when you are on foot. Pick one of those masculine ranch hats or baseball hats for a stroll around the block. They will definitely give you the casual-chic look and keep you warm.

What Are The Trends For Fall/Winter 2016 -2017

What Are The Trends For Fall/Winter 2016 -2017

Each year fashion weeks give us a new style mantra and we follow suit by heading to the stores to pick our favorite pieces. This time it’s no different. Trends this fall had a very measured and muted color pallet. Earthy shades with an occasional hit of bold red or deep burgundy were accompanied by a deluge of mauve and pink. The coolest part of this season’s apparel was that most separates used to compliment statement pieces are probably lying right there at the back of your closet. So those white button-downs, silk tunics, over-seized sweaters and hoodies in your wardrobe will now come in handy.

List of trends to follow

Age is just a number but when you are beyond your 30s, you don’t want to look like a wannabe teenager in halter tops and skimpy dresses.  Our job is to pick and choose trends from the fall collection that are more suited for a working woman who can attend personal and professional gatherings in them.

This coming season, you must have the following outfits in your closet to pull off an elegant and stylish look:

Puffer and Leather Jackets

You can replace your denim jacket you roughed up in the 20s with a leather one now. Also, this season’s glossy and colorful puffer jackets and shearling bombers worn over midi dresses and kick flares will give you a promising look for winters.

This fall, add a turtleneck to your wardrobe and you are good to go. Style it with some of the lightweight pieces in your closet and you will be bang on trend! It is super-easy to carry off without worrying about your body type and totally legitimize those slinky slips, and low cut cocktail dresses when you wear them over long sleeve shirts in broad daylight!

Cashmere Sweater

A soft cashmere sweater paired with a pencil skirt is the ‘it’ outfit to be worn at office or dinners.

Trench coats

Chic yet functional patent leather trench coats are absolutely drool-worthy. Wear them over denims for the streets and as office-wear when combined with a sheath dress.

Pantsuits got a reincarnation this season and we are not complaining at all. Perfect for every body type, they have now become the ‘it’ trend. They are slim, stylish and suitable for boardroom meetings as well as a night out.

Mini-skirt suites

Stop worrying about your age. You can still rock the mini-skirt like anything. Pull out those white-button downs from your closet and pair them with color-contrasting tweeds for your office look.

Ruffles are so fall with that layering factor! This year, they came with wearable designs and are no longer over-the-top. You can fashion structured ruffled tops over silk pants for formal evenings.

Sheath dresses

If you are a woman in your 30s, you want a more collected look; something that gives off sophisticated vibes, and sheath dresses are one of those outfits. Sheath dresses with stand-out prints can really flatter your frame and are super-easy to carry off with style.

Plaid Overcoats

This year, take inspiration from menswear and stack your closet with a couple of plaid coats in subtle, muted tones which can be pulled over cocktail dresses or outerwear too.

Double-breasted coats and blazers

You must be having both these in your closet but you can now totally nail the ‘woman with substance’ look with elegance by adding a wool or tuxedo blazer to your collection as well.
